SIVA 2012 Organization Conference Call

I hope you all have settled in to the new school year and formed your teams for the 2011-2012 season.  I have started to put together my thoughts and dates for this year.   The kick off meeting is scheduled per below and will be when I share all of the information for the season.

Please make sure that you have a representative in attendance so that you are aware of the deadlines and happenings for SIVA this coming year.  Attendance is required.

Monday, November 14, 2011 - 8:30 PM
Dial In Information:
559 546-1200
Passcode:
260-395-039#

There will also be an internet web meeting available for your to follow the presentation during the meeting so make sure that you are somewhere with a computer and internet access.

We will keeping the dues amount for 2012 at $725/team which is the same as last year until I can get a better handle on the finances so please put in your request to your individual schools to get your checks cut as I know this process is lengthy sometimes.   The deadline for receiving dues is December 31, 2011 at which time we will be cutting off the registration process so that schedules can be determined and solidified.  I will have an invoice published to the website shortly for you to print and take to your finance department to process the dues check.  See invoice tab for more information.

Tentative schedule of events for the upcoming season that you should be keeping in mind:

Early November:
The SIVA Organization Conference Call  The main agenda item during the call will be to find consensus for the three play dates and spring schedules.  Typically, it is late January for both the SIVA North and the SIVA South (each of which start the round robin play), late February for the SIVA Crossover (which completes the round robin play), and late March for the SIVA Championships (which includes some morning play before a double elimination championship play).

December 31:
Deadline for SIVA season dues to be paid.

Late January: SIVA North typically in the Dallas area for the more northern schools and the SIVA South typically somewhere within the Houston-San Antonio-Austin triangle for the more southern schools.

Late February:
2012 SIVA Crossover tournament for all teams to complete round robin play.  More than likely, this event will be split into two events: the SIVA Women's Crossover one weekend and the SVA Men's Crossover another.

Late March:
The 2012 SIVA Championships.  SIVA will effort to have this co-located, but that requires a large facility on campus (6-8 courts all day) and an equally large facility commitment on the part of the host school and their administration.  SIVA MVPs, All First Teams, and All Second Teams is done by a closed balloting process during the SIVA Championships.  Votes are tallied and the All SIVA Teams and the MVPs are announced just prior to the SIVA Trophy Presentations.

More to come shortly....
